Andcor places CEO at med-tech startup

Andcor Companies, Inc., the executive search firm for emerging growth companies, is pleased to announce DGIMed Ortho, Inc. has hired Phillip I. Smith as its chief executive officer. DGIMed, backed by $3.4 million in series A financing, is specializing in a new, proprietary system to assist orthopedic surgeons in the delivery of long bone intramedullary nail implants.

Phil was most recently the executive vice president of strategy and business development for Vital Images. Prior to Vital Images, Phil served as chief executive officer of Thermonix and as vice president of marketing & business development of Image-Guided Neurologics, both early stage medical device companies. Previously he was vice president of healthcare investment banking with Piper Jaffrey & Co. and a strategic account manager with GE Medical Systems. In addition Phil serves on the board of Angeion Corporation and the Minnesota Children’s Museum. Phil holds a MBA from the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.
