Pumping new blood into an artificial heart valve manufacturer
ChallengeIn 2004, HLT was a year old start-up co-founded by Dr. Robert Wilson and Dan Gladden to develop a novel technology for minimally invasive aortic heart valve-replacement. The market was (and is) a highly competitive industry with the worlds leading medical device companies competing for the best solution. In late 2004, testing of the initial generation called for a redesign of the HLT valve system. SolutionAndcor was brought in to assemble a world-class research and development team. The product development team that Andcor assembled worked through a major revamp of the percutaneous valve and further enhanced its state-of-the-art technology delivery system. Over the course of four years, Andcor placed more than five key hires for HLT who helped positioned it for success. ResultHLT has raised approximately $17 million to date, $13.5 million of it from a key strategic partner which helped attract key hires William Mirsch as CTO, and Jonas Runquist as VP of Regulatory Affairs. HLT has recently completed its second round of animal testing in which they implanted replacement valves in animal subjects and studied them for six months and filed its IDE. HLT is currently preparing for the initiation of human clinical studies. SummaryGreat people produce great results and we (Andcor) partner with companies to create a big impact in their success. |
