Challenge

In 2001, Cargill Ventures was working on creating new business development group. One of the challenges was to minimize the risks while evaluating and launching this high potential venture. A key to making this approach work was to find very experienced and seasoned executives who had significant experience to be placed in this group to help with the due diligence and business strategy on these opportunities.

Solution

Cargill Ventures turned to Andcor to find two high potential executives for one of these newly created opportunity. Because of Andcor's strong local network and thorough evaluation screening process, Cargill Ventures was able to minimize their internal efforts while hiring two great leaders, Paul Bieganski, as the Managing Director & CTO; Sanjiv Arora, as the Managing Director. In addition, Andcor has helped place multiple internal associates who comprise Cargill Ventures' current leadership team.

Result

Andcor has been working closely with Cargill Ventures since its inception in 2000. Since then, Andcor has placed five key hires and Cargill Ventures has become a top-tier venture capital fund. In 2006, the Cargill "accelerator" partnership was formed between Andcor and Cargill's Emerging Business Accelerator, with the goal of rapidly creating new companies around emerging technology. Cargill Ventures is now part of Black River Asset Management Company, a global asset management company with more than $9 billion of assets under management.
