From the brink of disaster to the pinnacle of success.
ChallengeAncor Communications (NASDAQ:ANCR) was struggling with its growth and profitability and as a consequence on the verge of losing key members of its management team. The board of directors desired to keep the company moving forward, but realized that a significant gap would be created with the loss of one of its leaders. SolutionThe Board of Ancor Communications retained Andcor in search of a new President and CEO. In 1997, Andcor placed Ken Hendrickson of Western Digital (NYSE:WDC) as President and CEO of Ancor Communications. One of the key reasons Ancor was able to attract Ken was due to Andcorâs exceptional relationship-driven network which made Andcor aware that Mr. Hendrikson was looking to relocate back to Minnesota from California for personal reasons. In addition, Andcor placed 12 key hires for Ancor Communications over the next four years, which helped stabilize the company and begin to grow. ResultIn 1999, Ancor Communications was the fourth best performing stock on the NASDAQ. When Andcor placed Ken Hendrickson in the role of President and CEO in 1997, Ancor Communications had a market cap of $25 million. Three years later, Ancor Communications was acquired by QLogic (NASDAQ:QLGC) for $1.7 billion.
